For my first attempt at the "Famous Griff Loaf" I stuck to the recipe Griff posted on the BBQC Forum a week ago. The only problem was some of my onions went a little beyond golden so it looks like I have bug in my raw loaf. I started with the loaf on parchment paper, but wanted to put my new Frogmat http://tinyurl.com/y97dccr to the test so put the loaf in the freezer for 30 minutes and then pealed the paper off and put the loaf right on the Frogmat. I put the loaf on when the pit temp was 200° and it took about 45 minutes to get up to 300°.

I used a loaf pan to form the loaf rather than free form.

I pulled it off at 175°.

The loaf really did not stick to the Frogmat.

I'm satisfied with my first attempt. I used apple wood and got a little smoke ring.

That loaf looked real good not dry looking at all. We got the Frogmat have not been able to give it a try. Was it easy to clean up ? Was it hot to touch? Is it worth it? We will be giving it a try this weekend cooking for Superbowl Sunday.

I liked it Huck, and I pick it up off the WSM with my bare hands. I'm not sure why I could do that, but it did not seem hot, maybe because it was 20° outside, but I really think it was the material. I rolled it up and put in in the sink with dish soap to clean it up. I really think it will be good for veggies on the grill rather than a grill basket. I actually won mine from Greg Rempe, but I would have paid $9 + another $9 to ship. The one I got was round for a WSM, but I really think a 12"X12" square would be a good size, just to have. I listened to HH #10 the other day ... I really wish I lived closer to Philly and your Superbowl Party:D Hope you post some pictures of the feast.

Thanks BBQuzz was wondering about clean-up.The material feels like it won't whole the heat. Got some shrimp, mushroom, green peppers and onions I think this mat will work for this.
