Black eye peas with hock or without.How do you like yours? New Years meal is black-eye peas and rice is the meal to bring luck in the new year.

I'm embarrassed to say I had never heard about the black eyed peas and good new years luck, I was always pork and kraut. I was just teased over on the BBCF and was told my Yankee was showing because I did not know about the black eyed peas. Anyway I went out and bought some black eyed peas and rice, onions and will make a variation of Hoppin John .. Hope my luck will be better in 2010. Have a great and safe New Year Huck!

I can still hear my grandmother tell my mother cook the peas for a week. That in real time is about 1 1/2 or 2 hours.
