Kingsford Competition Charcoal Review

IMG_7052.jpg Kingsford recently began releasing their new Competition Charcoal to the masses so today we’ll be doing a review on it. We’ll be comparing how this performs in reference to the original charcoal.

We picked a few bags of new k from our local Home Depot. We filled our weber chimney up with new Kingsford and lit 1 starter cube then placed the chimney over it. There was white smoke coming from chimney and it had a nice smell unlike the original. We noticed that it lit fast about 15 minutes and burned hot and long. .After cooking a 13 1/2 pound whole packer hot and fast in 5 1/2 hrs, we made deep dish pizza and noticed after all this time burning, it was definately less ash left over compared to the original Kingsford. We think this charcoal is definately an improvement over the original kingsford. The only downside is the price. We’ll leave you with a few comparison shots so you can see the consistency of the briquets themselves. For more in depth analysis of it, check out Kingsford’s senior scientist on Greg Rempe’s BBQ Central show. Click HERE and scroll down to the Tuesday, February 3, 2009 show.
